This panoramic photograph of Sturgis was taken by Christopher Gjevre. It features Main Street in Sturgis during the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally. Each August, Sturgis and the Black Hills of South Dakota attract hundreds of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world. The rally began in 1938 with a dirt track race and nine riders. It is now South Dakota’s largest tourism event and the world’s largest motorcycle rally. The week’s entertainment and fun includes Main Street action, concerts, races, road tours and bike shows. Much of the history of the Sturgis Rally and Races can be found at Sturgis’ National Motorcycle Museum."
