NEIL HULTMAN
Hall of Fame Inductee - 2001

Neil’s involvement in motorcycling began in 1947 at the age of 19 when he joined the famous Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club. Neil had just purchased an Indian Chief from Pappy Hoel, the local Indian Motorcycle dealer. That was when is long ride in the world of motorcycling began in earnest. His Indian was his only mode of transportation, riding it day and night, summer and winter. Neil only missed one Rally; it seems Uncle Sam invited him on a vacation to a place called Korea. After 56 years with the Gypsies and the AMA, Neil still enjoys motorcycling and remains active in all aspects of the Sturgis Rally. Friend and fellow Gypsy member Bob Moore says, “Neil is the cement that has kept everything together through the good times and the bad.” A soft spoken man, Neil knows the history of the Rally and is always happy to share the stories, sometimes with a twinkle in his eye as he recalls some of the more colorful moments. Neil currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame.
