REY SOTELO
Hall of Fame Inductee - 2001
J.C. “Pappy” Hoel Outstanding Achievement Award
Rey Sotelo, founder and CEO of the Indian Motorcycle Corporation, had his dream come true when Murray Smith, CEO of the famed Indian Motorcycle Corp., asked his company (California Motorcycle Company) to build the prototype for the new Indian Chief. A month later Murray and some investors came to see the bike, fell in love with it and purchased CMC on the spot to produce the famous marquee. From opening his small motorcycle accessory company at age 21 to becoming the “big guy” representing one of the most famous motorcycle names in history is a feat in itself. Moving this challenge forward would take determination and tenacity. Rey has met this challenge by producing a motorcycle that speaks to the dignity of the Indian marquee and at the same time pays homage to the thousands of Indian loyalists in the world.
