BOB MOORE
Hall of Fame Inductee - 2002

Bob is a Life Member of the American Motorcycle Association and the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club, and Charter Member of the White Plate Flat Trackers Association. He fell in love with motorcycles in 1949 after hitching a ride home from school with a neighborhood kid on an Indian Scout. In 1950 he borrowed a friend’s Indian Brave, finally purchasing his first motorcycle, a Triumph Thunderbird. Bob belonged to the Black Hills Motorcycle Club of Rapid City and the Rapid Barons Motorcycle Club, also of Rapid City, in the 50’s. He joined the New Mexico Motorcycle Club of Albuquerque while in the service. Bob began competition riding in 1956 and did it all – scrambles, dirt tracks, TT’s, cross-country events, hill climbs, observed trails and field meets. He built and raced everything from Ariel to Yamaha. He retired from racing in 1968, finishing out that year on Pappy Hoel’s Yamaha DT-1. Pappy invited Bob to become a member of the Jackpine Gypsies in 1968. He served as president of the Club from 1971 to 1975, again in 1993. Bob helped Pappy Hoel and Al Burke organize the White Plate Flat Trackers Association in 1979 and served as its first president.
