Rip began his riding career on the back of a Sears and Roebuck Puch 160. After riding it into the ground he purchased a yellow and black 1948 Indian. In the late 50's, and after his tour of duty in the Air Force, he moved to Southern California, making the trip on a Triumph Bonneville. Between 1965 and 1975, Rip operated his own refinishing and customizing service. The early 70's found Rip documenting his experiences as a biker for the newly formed Easyriders magazine. He wrote for Easyriders for more than 20 years and is probably best known for his generous spirit, charisma and ability to appreciate "the lifestyle", which showed in every installment of Rips Run. Deceased in February, this larger than life gentleman will be sorely missed.
