Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Named Service Business of the Year

2010-04-14 13:40:04

The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame was named the 2009 Service Business of the Year by the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce.  The museum was given the award at the Chamber’s Annual meeting on Saturday, April 10.

The Service Business of the Year is awarded to the business that meets specific service needs within the Greater Sturgis Area.  The work setting speaks to quality of service for both staff and client.  Community involvement is an integral component of addressing and meeting the needs of the clientele base.

The Chamber recognized the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum for its year-around commitment to the community.  “We send folks down all year to the museum because we know they’ll get a little piece of Sturgis and motorcycle history when they visit,” said Michele Loobey-Gertsch, Executive Director of the Chamber.  “This organization continues to pursue growth and development.”

In citing the museum, the Chamber of Commerce noted the work done by the staff and the museum’s Board of Directors.  They cited the fact that the museum is open seven days a week all year long, includes a retail establishment, and provides excellent service to visitors who come to the community.  “The board and staff of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame work hard to provide an excellent visitor experience for people who come to Sturgis,” said Executive Director Christine Paige Diers.  “We’re honored that the Sturgis Chamber has recognized those efforts by naming us the Service Business of the Year.”

Besides the Service Business of the Year Award, the Chamber also honored the 2009 Retail Business of the Year, Employer of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year.  Awards were also presented for Community Pride and the Key City Award.
