James "Gunny" Gregory

James "Gunny" Gregory

Advocate for POWs & MIAs

James, an honored Vietnam Veteran, served our country in the Marines for over 20 years. In 1989, he created and led the first Run for The Wall, an annual cross-country ride culminating in Washington D.C. on Memorial Day Weekend. This ride has become the nation's most visible show of support for POWs and those Missing in Action.

Expanding the Legacy

Under James's leadership, the ride has grown into three separate cross-country routes. Not only has he led the organization, but he has also participated in all three routes during the annual tribute, adding nearly two thousand miles to his journey each year.

Continued Commitment to Veterans

James's dedication extends beyond the Vietnam War. He has organized a post-Vietnam spin-off run to support veterans of the Middle East conflicts, including Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan. This ride starts in Marseilles, Illinois, and ends in Washington, D.C. He also rides with the Sandbox Run during the Memorial Day celebration, continuing his unwavering support for veterans.

James's commitment to veterans is tireless. His efforts have not only created a lasting tribute to those who served but have also built a community of support and camaraderie among veterans from various conflicts. Through his leadership and personal dedication, James has ensured that the sacrifices of our servicemen and women are never forgotten.
